Charcoal - Nikon F4 on Ektachrome

This is one of my favorite older reports. Shot on slide film, photographed with a Nikon F4. Charcoal burning is one of the oldest professions in the Siegerland and Sauerland regions. Iron smelting required high temperatures. Charcoal has been used for this purpose since ancient times. Today only few charcoal burners practice this approximately 2,000-year-old craft. Many barbecue enthusiasts love the charcoal.
